There is one betting shop for every 2,458 of Glasgow’s 595,000 residents.
According to recently-published figures, of £158.18 million gambled each year in the city, estimated winnings amounted to £30.05 million, a success rate of 19 per cent.
The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations reports that, 870,000 people in Scotland, including 1 in 5 children, can be classed as living “in poverty”.
