If you have to borrow £200 from payday lender Wonga for 10 days you will pay an annual percentage rate (APR) of 5,853 per cent.
If, on the other hand, you go into unauthorised use of your overdraft by £200 for the same period Halifax will charge you an APR of 344,421 per cent while RBS will charge you 1,441,791 per cent and Lloyds TSB will sting you a scarcely believable 53,099,884 per cent, according to the Office of Fair Trading.
