Professor Norman Stone, who died aged 78 on 19 June 2019, was an eminent historian renowned for the research he invested in his books.
According to Professor Niall Ferguson, who was a colleague at Oxford University, he would read around 1000 pages for every 1 page he wrote in his dozen or so books.
