Alex Pink…what’s your story?

Alex has spotted a gap in the market for producing high quality CGI (computer generated interface) animations. His work to date has been vast and includes businesses showcasing their products, to carrying out workshops with the Arts Council. Exciting times ahead as the demand for Alex and his team’s animated storytelling is on the up…

  1. In less than 45 words, give us an Elevator Pitch for your business.

We’re a British animation studio specialising in children’s entertainment and telling the stories of charities and businesses, as well as visualising products in a dramatic and innovative way.

  1. What do you like the most about your job?

Creativity, storytelling and surprising clients with what’s actually possible.

  1. What has been your best moment in business?

It’s a tough call, but I think the Arts Council project we did for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year was a stand-out moment. Giving children the opportunity to wear, touch, feel and play with some of the most advanced Motion Capture technology in the industry and seeing them discover new interests was really fulfilling. There’s a documentary of it here:  https://youtu.be/CQ2ZlnZQqiI

  1. What lessons have you learned that you would pass on to others?

In business? Test the market and listen to your customers.

  1. Tell us about your first job and any unusual jobs you’ve had in the past?

My first job was working at Halfords part time. I saved all my overtime money for about 10 months and eventually bought a Canon XL1 and then started to film and sell DVDs of school plays where my mum taught. That’s how I got started.

  1. What do you hope the future hold for you and your business?

Broadcast and film projects that we have in the works; it would be lovely to see those through onto the small and big screens respectively. But my lips are sealed on the details!

  1. Away from work, what do you like to do?

Spend time with family. I have two beautiful children and a fiancé who I am marrying in July this year. If I really want some “me” time I’ll play video games, watch something easy or just sleep.

  1. What’s the last book / concert / Netflix series you most enjoyed?

That’s a tough one! I saw Mousetrap on the West End not too long ago. Let’s go with that!

  1. Where is your happy place?

Home.

  1. If you could invite any three people, living or dead, to have dinner with, who would you choose?

Carl Jung, Jesus and Jordan Peterson.
